Company overview

The Amphicar Model 770 was produced from 1961 to 1968. Hans Trippel designed the vehicle, and it was manufactured by the Quandt Group in West Germany. Production totaled 3,878 units during its single generation. The Amphicar combined automotive and boat capabilities. It used a Triumph four-cylinder engine, initially 1147 cc, to power both land and water propulsion. The vehicle was steered with the front wheels on land and in water. Production began in late 1960, concluding in 1965. The United States and the United Kingdom were primary markets for the Amphicar.
