Company overview
Apollo Automobil, previously known as Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur, was founded in 2004 by Roland Gumpert. He previously worked at Audi Sport where he contributed to 25 World Rally Championship rallies and four titles. The company initially developed the Apollo sports car with assistance from Technical University of Munich and Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. Early models were produced using computer simulations and wind tunnel testing. In 2005, production of the Apollo began. The company filed for bankruptcy in August 2013 and was subsequently purchased by Hong Kong consortium Ideal Team Venture in January 2016. The company was renamed Apollo Automobil GmbH at that time. In March 2016, the Arrow model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The Intensa Emozione followed in November 2016, utilizing a naturally-aspirated V12 engine and collaboration with HWA AG. The Apollo Project EVO was presented at the China International Import Expo in November 2021.
