The company’s origins trace back to 1988 as Nanhai Automobile, initially assembling truck bodies under an agreement with Nanjing Automobile. In 2001, the company rebranded as Guangdong Foday Automobile following a management buy-out and subsequent partnership with BAIC Foton and Lanshi Machinery Factory. The company produced vehicles, including pick-up trucks and SUVs, as well as automotive parts and stampings. It sold its products under the Fudi and Foday brands in various countries.
