Foton Motor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of BAIC Group, designs and manufactures trucks, buses, and sport utility vehicles. Established in 1996, the company began producing light and heavy-duty trucks, agricultural machinery, and vehicles inspired by models like the Toyota HiAce. Foton has expanded its operations through numerous joint ventures, including collaborations with Cummins Inc., Daimler AG, Piaggio, and Otokar. These partnerships have enabled the production of light-duty diesel engines, vehicle batteries, and commercial vehicles adapted for various markets. Foton’s product portfolio includes models such as the Auman series of trucks, Gratour MPVs, and Foton View vehicles. The company has established a presence in numerous countries including Russia, India, Brazil, Thailand and Bangladesh through sales subsidiaries and assembly plants. As of 2024, Foton has a joint partnership with Turkey’s Otokar and launched the new energy commercial vehicle brand Cavan, featuring the Lefu van.
