Company overview

Graham-Paige was an American automobile manufacturer founded in 1927 by the Graham brothers. Initially, the company produced truck kits and then built trucks using engines from various manufacturers, primarily Dodge. In 1927, Graham-Paige purchased the Paige-Detroit Motor Car Company to enter the automobile business. The company produced a line of cars and trucks with 6 and 8-cylinder engines, and became known for innovative designs such as enclosed fenders and a ‘banjo’ frame. In 1935, a restyling of the front and rear ends proved unsuccessful, leading to the purchase of car bodies from REO Motor Car Company. In 1939, a partnership with Hupmobile resulted in the production of the Graham Hollywood, based on Cord dies. Production ceased in 1940 and all automotive assets were acquired by Kaiser-Frazer in 1947. Following World War II, Graham-Paige produced the 1947 Frazer in partnership with Henry J. Kaiser, and later branched into real estate, acquiring properties including the Roosevelt Raceway and Madison Square Garden, which were eventually consolidated under the name Madison Square Garden Corporation.
