Company overview

HiPhi is an electric vehicle brand owned by EV Electra and Human Horizons. Founded in 2017, the company’s operations are centered in Shanghai and Pujiang. The first vehicle released was the HiPhi X in 2019, followed by the HiPhi Z and HiPhi Y models. Production initially occurred at the Yancheng plant with assistance from Yueda Group, and later at BAIC New Energy Laixi. In 2024, HiPhi suspended production for six months following a financial crisis and subsequent investment from i Group Inc. The company’s chairman, Ding Lei, apologized for strategic misjudgments and announced plans to restructure. Human Horizons’ Operations and R&D Center is located in Pujiang, Shanghai, with additional facilities in Qingdao, Jinjiang and Tokyo. As of August 2024, HiPhi’s parent company Human Horizons Holdings (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was listed as a ‘dishonest person subject to enforcement’.
