Company overview

Invicta is a British automobile manufacturer with a history of intermittent production. The original company, founded in 1925 by Noel Macklin and financed by Oliver Lyle, produced cars from its base in Cobham, Surrey. Early models utilized Meadows engines and featured chassis lengths of 9 feet 4 inches and 10 feet. Sporting success was achieved through Violette Cordery’s accomplishments, including multiple long-distance records in the 1920s and a circumnavigation of the world. Production ceased in 1935, followed by a revival in 1946 with the Black Prince model. In 2004, Invicta was revived again, producing the S1 sports car. The 2008 S1 600 model featured a supercharged Ford V8 engine. In 2012, Westpoint Car Company, formerly Invicta Car Company, was dissolved due to financial difficulties. Previous incarnations of the brand included companies operating in Finchley (1900-1905) and Leamington (1913-1914), as well as a Buick Invicta produced by General Motors from 1959 to 1963.
