Company overview

Lagonda is a British luxury car brand established in 1906. Wilbur Gunn founded the company in Staines, Middlesex, initially as a motorcycle engineer. The brand was acquired by David Brown and integrated with Aston Martin in 1947. Production of Lagonda vehicles ceased several times, most recently from 2016 onward. During World War II, the company produced artillery shells and flame-throwing equipment. Alan P. Good purchased Lagonda in 1935, bringing W. O. Bentley to the company as a designer. The brand was revived in 2008 by Aston Martin, with the goal of expanding into new markets. Subsequent models included the Rapide saloon (2010) and a 4WD SUV to celebrate the centenary in 2009. The Taraf, a limited-edition saloon costing over £1 million, was produced in 2014. Lagonda vehicles have appeared in popular culture, including ‘The Twilight Zone’ and Agatha Christie novels.
