Company overview

Lloyd Cars Ltd was founded in 1936 by Roland Lloyd. The company operated as a motor manufacturer until 1951, and later continued in general engineering until 1983. During World War II, Lloyd produced components for Rolls-Royce Merlin aircraft engines. Approximately fifteen Lloyd cars are known to exist today. The company initially produced the Lloyd 350, a cyclecar with a Villiers engine, from 1936 to 1940. Production of the Lloyd 350 continued after the war, with approximately 250 cars manufactured and exported to countries including the Netherlands, New Zealand, and South Africa. In 1946, Lloyd reintroduced car production with the Lloyd 650, featuring a larger, Lloyd-built twin-cylinder engine. This model utilized a complex fuel charging system and an independent suspension design. Production of the Lloyd 650 reached approximately 600 units, with exports to Australia, Belgium, Denmark, India and the United States.
