Company overview

The Napier Motor Car Company of America imported assembled Napiers from England beginning in 1904. The company then began assembling the vehicles under license in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, starting in late 1904. These cars utilized coachwork produced both in America and in Britain. Production ceased in 1912 after a series of ownership changes. The Napier Motor Car Company initially faced financial difficulties in 1907, leading to a halt in production. In 1909, a new company assumed control and resumed assembly operations. This second production run lasted until 1911, when the Napier Motor Company acquired the business. This venture continued for less than a year before concluding.
