Company overview

The Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company was established in 1901 and operated until 1938. Initially, it produced household items like birdcages before transitioning to motor vehicles. The company began by building single-cylinder Motorettes and later produced a range of automobiles, including luxury cars and commercial trucks. Pierce-Arrow became known for its large engines, reaching a maximum displacement of 13.52 liters in 1931. In 1908, the company was renamed Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company. From 1928 to 1933, it was associated with Studebaker. In 1933, Pierce-Arrow introduced the Silver Arrow model, a streamlined car intended to appeal to wealthy buyers during the Depression. Despite its success with models like the Town Car, the company faced financial difficulties and closed in 1938. The last car produced was assembled by Karl Wise, and the company’s assets were sold at auction. The Pierce-Arrow Society is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of the company and its vehicles.
