Company overview
Pininfarina S.p.A., founded in 1930 by Battista "Pinin" Farina, is an Italian car design and coachbuilding firm headquartered in Cambiano, Turin. Initially focused on automobile bodies for companies like Lancia and Alfa Romeo, the firm expanded its operations significantly in the 1950s through collaborations with Nash-Kelvinator and General Motors, producing iconic designs such as the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. From 1951, Pininfarina maintained a close partnership with Ferrari, designing over 60 road-going models until 2012. The company’s expertise extended beyond automotive design to include industrial and architectural projects, including train designs, yachts, airplanes, and furniture. In 2015, Mahindra Group acquired a majority stake in Pininfarina. Throughout its history, the company employed over 2,700 people at its peak in 2006 and has since adapted to changing market conditions, restructuring its operations and debt multiple times. Pininfarina continues to work with a diverse range of clients, including automotive and industrial firms globally.
