Company overview

Qvale was a car manufacturer founded in 2000 by Bruce Qvale. He acquired the De Tomaso Biguà, originally designed by Marcello Gandini for Alejandro de Tomaso. The Biguà was renamed Mangusta and became Qvale’s sole product. Kjell Qvale, Bruce's father, had previously been a distributor for Jaguar and founded the San Francisco Auto Show. He established British Motors in 1947, importing European luxury cars to the United States. Between 2000 and 2002, Qvale produced 284 Mangusta cars. The company initially used De Tomaso badges on the vehicles, which were later replaced with Qvale logos. In 2003, MG Rover Group purchased the rights to the Mangusta and introduced the MG SV and SVR. These vehicles utilized the Mangusta’s structure, suspension, engine, and gearbox.
