Company overview

American Specialty Cars (ASC) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1965 by Heinz Prechter. The company initially operated as the American Sunroof Company and later changed its name to ASC. It specialized in designing and manufacturing engineered roof systems, body systems, and other specialty vehicle components for automotive manufacturers. ASC produced concept cars and vehicles for various brands including Ford, Saab, McLaren, Porsche, Cadillac, and Citroen. In 2016, ASC sold its assets to Creative Services, and in 2017, the company effectively ceased operations after laying off staff and removing equipment from its Lexington, Kentucky facility. Roush Industries acquired ASC’s remaining assets at that time.
