Company overview

The Diamond T Company manufactured automobiles and trucks from 1905 to 1967. Initially, the company produced touring cars and later specialized in commercial and military trucks. In 1940, Diamond T began producing trucks for the US Army during World War II. These included the 980/981, a prime mover used as a tank transporter tractor, and the 4-ton G509 series trucks for cargo, dump, semi tractor, and wrecker applications. The company produced over 54,000 trucks during the war years and ranked 47th among US corporations in military production contracts. Diamond T also manufactured pickup trucks, including the Model 80 and Model 201, powered by Hercules engines. Following World War II, production of commercial trucks ceased temporarily before resuming in 1946 with a wider range of models and engine options.
