Company overview

The Eagle brand was created following Chrysler’s acquisition of American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1987. It initially represented a continuation of AMC’s four-wheel drive Eagle crossover vehicles, including the Eagle Wagon. Chrysler sought to establish a separate brand identity for these models, distinct from its existing lines, and initially considered the ‘Liberty’ name. However, the AMC-developed Eagle Premier became the basis for Chrysler's later ‘LH’ models. The brand continued with imported vehicles, including the Renault 21 (Eagle Medallion) and the Renault 25-based Eagle Premier, alongside rebadged Mitsubishi models. Marketing efforts were hampered by a lack of consistent strategy and dealer confusion regarding the Eagle’s place within Chrysler's portfolio. The brand was discontinued in 1998, with the last Eagle Talon produced in December of that year. Several models were rebadged versions of vehicles from other Chrysler divisions and Mitsubishi Motors.
