Company overview
Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co. began in 1928 as a German car manufacturer based in Bremen. The company initially produced three-wheeler trucks and medium-sized cars, utilizing designs from previous Borgward motorcycle production. The first passenger car model was the Goliath Pionier in 1931, a three-wheeled vehicle with a one-cylinder engine. Production of the Pionier continued until 1934, with approximately four thousand units manufactured in various body styles. In the post-World War II era, Goliath produced light trucks including the F400 and FW400. The company introduced front-wheel-drive passenger cars such as the GP700 and GP900, featuring two-cylinder engines. The Goliath 1100 was introduced in 1957, utilizing a four-cylinder engine and rebranded as the Hansa 1100. Production ceased in 1961 following the collapse of the Borgward group.
