Company overview

The Holsman Automobile Company operated in Chicago, Illinois, from 1901 to 1910. Henry K. Holsman founded the company and produced high-wheeler automobiles. HC Bryan assisted in building these vehicles. The Holsman was the first commercially successful high-wheeler, prompting other Midwest manufacturers to enter the market during that time. The company focused exclusively on high-wheeler production throughout its existence. It did not incorporate pneumatic tires or develop standard models like competitors. In 1910, the company ceased operations in Chicago. Henry K. Holsman subsequently moved to Plano, Illinois, and created a similar vehicle named the Independent Harvester. Production of the Independent Harvester concluded in 1911.
