Company overview

Innocenti was an Italian machinery works established in 1933. It initially produced Lambretta scooters and later automobiles, primarily based on British Leyland designs. The company’s history included building the BMC Mini under license from 1961 to 1976. Production of vehicles included scooters, sedans, and coupes. In 1972, British Leyland acquired control of the company. Following a period of decline and financial difficulties, Innocenti was reorganized in 1976 by Alejandro de Tomaso. Later, in 1983, the company began producing cars with Daihatsu engines and technology. Innocenti sold rebadged Yugo Koral and Fiat models in the Italian market until 1996, when sales were discontinued.
