Company overview

Kaiser Motors Corporation began as a joint venture in 1945 between the Henry J. Kaiser Company and Graham-Paige Motors Corporation. The company produced automobiles, including the Kaiser, Frazer, Henry J, and Darrin models, from 1945 to 1953. Production moved to the Willys plant in Toledo, Ohio, in 1953, forming Willys Motors Incorporated. Kaiser-Frazer changed its name to Kaiser Motors Corporation in 1953. The company produced vehicles for sale through Sears-Roebuck and created a line of Allstate automobiles. By 1963, the company became Kaiser Jeep Corporation. Production of U.S.-based passenger cars ceased in 1955, but Willys Jeeps continued to be manufactured in Ohio and Argentina. In 1969, Kaiser Industries sold its automotive business to American Motors Corporation.
