Company overview
Li Auto Inc. was founded in 2015 by Li Xiang, who previously operated automotive and technology websites. The company initially developed low-speed electric vehicles for car-sharing services. In 2019, it rebranded as Li Auto and launched its first model, the Li One, a range-extended electric SUV. The company listed on the Nasdaq in July 2020, raising US$1.1 billion. Subsequent models included the Li L9, L8, and L7 SUVs, as well as the Li Mega MPV in November 2023. In 2025, Li Auto introduced the i Series of fully electric vehicles. The company has faced challenges in securing investment and encountered issues related to vehicle safety, including reports of braking system problems and the presence of banned materials in vehicles.
