Lightyear developed the Lightyear 0, a large fastback car with solar panels covering its bonnet, roof, and boot. The vehicle’s design originated from Solar Team Eindhoven's solar-powered cars for the World Solar Challenge. Granstudio in Italy collaborated on design work for the Lightyear 0. The car uses 782 solar cells, which can add approximately 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) of range daily during summer, according to Lightyear’s claims. It is an all-wheel drive vehicle with four in-wheel electric hub motors and a low-mounted battery. The Lightyear 0 seats five adults and luggage, achieving a drag coefficient of Cd=0.175.
