Company overview

Morgan Motor Company Limited was founded in 1910 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan. The company began as a motor sales and servicing garage in Malvern Link, England, and initially produced three-wheeled vehicles. These early models utilized a steel backbone chassis and motorcycle engines, quickly gaining popularity due to tax advantages as motorcycles. By 1935, Morgan introduced its first four-wheeler, the 4/4, utilizing a Coventry Climax engine. Production of three-wheelers ceased in 1952, with the company continuing to manufacture cars until H.F.S. Morgan’s death in 1959, when his son, Peter Morgan, took over. In 1990, the company faced a critical evaluation and chose to reject modernization advice, prioritizing its traditional methods and maintaining a waiting list. InvestIndustrial acquired a majority stake in 2019, with the Morgan family retaining a minority shareholding. In January 2013, management was restructured, and in 2016, a new chairman, Dominic Riley, was appointed. In January 2016, the company received a government grant of £6 million to support its operations. As of February 2025, Matthew Hole assumed the role of managing director.
