Company overview

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad, known as Perodua, is Malaysia’s largest car manufacturer. It was established in 1993 and launched the Perodua Kancil as its first model in August 1994. The company initially focused on producing minicars and superminis, competing with Proton Holdings in the super-compact segment. Perodua uses component designs from Daihatsu, with a 20% stake held by the company at its launch, increasing to 35% in 2001. In 2004, Perodua began assembling the Toyota Avanza in Malaysia. Perodua’s sales have grown significantly. In 2016, the company sold over 207,100 vehicles domestically and achieved a market share of 35.7%. As of 2024, it sold 358,000 cars in ASEAN markets. Perodua exports vehicles to countries including Singapore, Brunei, Mauritius, Fiji, Sri Lanka and Seychelles. The company has also exported the Myvi to Indonesia as the Daihatsu Sirion since 2007.
