Company overview

Puma Automóveis Ltda. began as a Brazilian manufacturer of sports cars in 1963, initially under the name Sociedade de Automóveis Lumimari. The company evolved through several iterations, including Puma Veículos e Motores and Puma Indústria de Veículos SA. Production rights were periodically transferred to other companies, including Araucária Veículos and Alfa Metais Veículos Ltda., primarily in the 1970s and 80s. In 2013, a new company, Puma Automóveis Ltda., was established to revive the brand. The original concept involved a fiberglass body on a production car chassis, initially utilizing a DKW engine and later transitioning to Volkswagen components. Key models included the GT Malzoni, Puma GT (DKW), Puma GTE, and Puma Spider. The company also diversified into truck manufacturing in the 1970s and 80s, producing various models for Chevrolet and Volkswagen. In 2017, Puma Automóveis Ltda. initiated a project to create the P-052 prototype, inspired by classic Puma designs and intended for motorsports. The current company holds the rights to the Puma brand, acquired in 2014.
