Company overview

Sony developed the Vision-S platform, initially for an all-electric automobile. The first concept vehicle, Vision-S 01, was unveiled at CES in 2020. Sony formed a new wholly owned subsidiary, Sony Mobility Inc., to manage the Vision-S platform and future vehicle development. The platform is designed for autonomous driving experiences, incorporating advanced sensor technology and connectivity features. Sony’s AI/Robotics division led the project, building upon its work with AIBO and Airpeak. The Vision-S concept emphasizes safety, entertainment, and adaptability through continuous feature updates. Sony exhibited a second concept, Vision-S 02, at CES in 2022. Sony and Honda announced a joint venture for battery-electric vehicle development starting in 2025.
