Company overview

Trojan was a British automobile manufacturer operating from 1914 to 1965. Initially, the company produced light cars and later light commercial vehicles under the direction of Leslie Hounsfield. The early Trojan car, introduced in 1920, featured a unique punt-shaped chassis and a double-cylinder engine. From 1920 to 1928, Trojan vehicles were manufactured under contract for Leyland Motors. The company produced approximately 11,000 cars and 6700 vans during this period. In the 1930s, Trojan shifted to producing utility vehicles like the RE and later the Wayfarer. The company ceased operations in 2013 after being acquired by Trojan Lambretta Group, who continued to produce the Trobike mini-bike from 1959 until 1962. The Trobike, utilizing a Clinton engine, was produced in both kit and built-up forms for karting and later road use. Production of Trojan vehicles concluded in 1937.
