Company overview

Zimmer Motor Cars was established in 1980 as a manufacturer of neo-classic automobiles. The company began with the Golden Spirit, initially built on a Ford Mustang chassis and later adapted to a Lincoln Town Car platform. By 1988, Zimmer Motor Cars Corporation filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 due to financial difficulties. In 1997, Art Zimmer acquired the brand name and assets, establishing the Art Zimmer Neo-Classic Motor Car Company in Jamesville, New York. This company continued production of Zimmer automobiles until 2020, building approximately 1,500 Golden Spirits and 170 QuickSilvers. Production occurred at facilities in Cambridge, Maryland, and Syracuse, New York, utilizing metal fabrication contracts with Rosenthal and Chadwick. The company sold vehicles through an international distribution network.
