Company overview

Polestar is a Swedish automotive manufacturer established in 1996 as Flash Engineering, initially focused on motorsport. The brand evolved through its association with Volvo Cars and Geely Holding Group. In 2017, Polestar was repositioned as a standalone electric vehicle brand, introducing models such as the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2. Production is currently handled by Volvo and Geely facilities in several countries, including China, the United States, and South Korea. Polestar Automotive Holdings UK PLC was formed in 2021 by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding Group. As of June 2025, Li Shufu’s PSD Investment holds the largest stake in Polestar. The company withdrew from the United States market in June 2026 due to restrictions on connected software and hardware. Currently, Winfried Vahland serves as Chairman and Michael Lohscheller is the Chief Executive Officer.
