Company overview

The Rugby was a car produced by Durant Motors Company. The company assembled the vehicles in several locations, including Elizabeth, New Jersey; Lansing, Michigan; Long Island City, New York; Oakland, California and Leaside, Canada. Production began in 1923 and concluded on March 31, 1928. The Rugby was built using the Star automobile design. Durant Motors exported the vehicles to markets in the British Commonwealth, including South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The Star name was changed to Durant in April 1928. All four-cylinder Durants exported carried the Rugby name until 1932.
