Company overview
Unic was a French manufacturer founded in 1905, initially producing light cars and taxis. The company operated as an automobile producer until July 1938, continuing to manufacture commercial vehicles for another fourteen years. In 1952, Henri Pigozzi acquired the company with the intention of developing it as a commercial vehicle division within Simca. Unic began by producing trucks in 1922, diversifying into passenger cars throughout the 1920s and 1930s. These vehicles included four-cylinder models with various engine sizes, as well as an eight-cylinder model introduced in 1928. Unic focused on reliability and spacious bodies, often sourced from coachbuilders like Letourneur et Marchand. Passenger car production ceased in 1938, and after that year, Unic concentrated on truck manufacturing. In 1966, the company joined Fiat and was later integrated into Iveco in 1975. The headquarters moved to Boissy St Léger in 2003.
